Ikea has its own brand of hanging system called Haghed. You can use this to hang 1 large painting or 2 small paintings with a maximum load capacity of 4 kg. In addition to the white suspension rail of 115 cm long and the 2 hooks, the package also contains 4 mounting clips, 2 end caps, 2 transparent cords of maximum 115 cm and 2 suspension hooks. The screws and plugs are not included.
Keep this in mind when considering the IKEA picture hanging system
There are a few things you need to know about the IKEA picture hanging system to consider whether it is the right choice for you.
1. For example, the 115 cm wires are on the short side. Wires of 150 cm in length are used in a regular home. So first measure whether this is long enough for you, because there are no other lengths available. (Click here for Ikea Haghed compatible hanging wires)
2. The suspension rail is also on the short side. If you connect several suspension rails together, this means that you will see more seams when you purchase a longer rail.
3. The maximum load capacity of 4 kg is not always sufficient. An average painting with a frame easily weighs 5 to 10 kg. Mirrors are often even heavier.
4. IKEA does not have self-locking hooks available. This makes it a lot more difficult to hang several paintings at the same height.
5. The wires must be slid into the rails from the side. If the rails end in a corner, it is therefore very difficult to reach. Sometimes the rails even have to be removed from the wall.
6. Corner connectors are not available for corners. As a result, you miss a refined finish when the rails meet a corner.
7. The metal wire clips protrude clearly visible from under the rails.
Alternative to the IKEA hanging system
